Got up rather early and skied the NE face of McGinnis, then headed to Stroller White and started up before turning around when mother nature told us to. Maybe next time.

1-30-2018 Mt Stroller White
O'dark thirty start, up the McGinnis summer trail to about 2100ft, then traverse east across the big drainage to Stroller White. Up the mountain to the summit pyramid. Tried to summit via the couloir east of the pyramid, but recent snow and Taku winds had deposited a wind slab on it that we were not enthused about. Skied out the way we came, then ran a nice lap between Stroller and McGinnis. Until next time.....
A mix of booting and skinning with 6" of new snow over ice. |
McGinnis behind Sam |
The couloir above Sam, we stopped just above this, about 500-600ft shy of summit. |

1-23-18 Mt Jumbo - Jumbo Couloir
4" new in the muskeg allowed for skinning to the base near 1800ft where booting on old/new snow commenced. Icy couloir with some nice sluff/fluff in it that covered the icy conditions below but still allowed for safe skiing with mostly stable snow. Upper 100' of couloir avoided due to loading.

12-30-17 McGinnis
Wanted to check out the snowpack above 3k before the next storm cycle. It's pretty manky and basically 1' of facets on the south aspect of McGinnis. If and when it gets weight on it, I'd expect it to be weak for a while until it bridges. We'll see.....

10-25-2017 Eaglecrest
Hiked in boots to about 1600ft, then started skinning. About 20+ inches above 2500ft. A tropical storm is coming, which will destroy all this pretty quickly. Oh well.

9-7-17 Cairn Observation Loop
Ultra classic Juneau ridge loop up Blackerby, over to Cairn Peak, over Observation Peak and back via Juneau Ridge. Maybe 16-17 miles and 6-7k vert? I don't know. Fun. Shit cell phone pics. Out of order.

From summit of Observation. Cairn Peak on right with Lemon Glacier. Blackerby ridge leads to Cairn. |

6-4-2017 Tracy Arm Fjord
Early summer trip up the fjord to scope potential ski lines. 4,000-6,000ft descents to the ocean if we get a cold winter.
